The Department of Physiotherapy at Lifepoint Hospital, Wakad aims at treating injuries and diseases through physical methods such as manipulation, mobilisation and exercise over medication and surgery. Physiotherapy is a crucial treatment for most of the patients with heart diseases, strokes, cerebral palsy, etc. It is vital for rehabilitation and for reducing the recovery time after major surgeries.

The different treatments offered at Physiotherapy department at LPMH include :

  • Musculoskeletal or Orthopaedic Physiotherapy: It is used to treat backaches, sprains, strains, postural defects and reduced mobility. We also provide rehabilitation post orthopaedic surgeries.
  • Neurological Physiotherapy: Patients with disorders of the nervous system such as spinal cord injuries, head injuries, multiple sclerosis, Strokes and Parkinson’s disease are given Neurological Physiotherapy.
  • Cardiothoracic Physiotherapy: This therapy is required for patients with asthma, emphysema, bronchitis and other cardio-respiratory disorders.

We understand that requirement of each patient is different. Accordingly, our team of physiotherapists study each patient’s case history carefully and decides the tailor-made therapy for each patient. A customized physiotherapy treatment help individuals return to their prior level of functioning, and encourage activities and lifestyle changes that can help prevent further injury and improve overall health and well being.

Some patients need manual therapies such as joint manipulation and mobilisation, resistance training and stretching. While some require exercise based, where the patient needs muscle strengthening and re-posturing.

Department Details:

The department at the hospital is run in partnership with ReLiva Physiotherapy & Rehab and is fully equipped with electrotherapy modalities like IFT, TENS, Ultrasound, Muscle Stimulator and others. We also have a full suite of exercise equipment and TMT to ensure safe recovery of our patients. Our physiotherapists use a combination of one or more of these modalities along with specialised techniques like McKenzie, Manual therapy, Neuro-dynamic technique, K-taping and exercise therapy using T-bands, exercise balls, bands as required, for pain relief and regaining the strength of the affected area.
